[He's not on the ground (phew) but he's getting closer to it. Casey is hanging off the lamp post, eyes wide, legs flailing as he tries to wrap them around the pole.]
[He can't help feeling defensive about this, through his rising panic. He doesn't want Hunter to think he's idiot enough to go leaping off staffs mid-flight. Unfortunately he doesn't have a different explanation to offer. Once Hunter is close enough, he angles his feet to rest on the staff, letting go of the lamp with one hand to grab Hunter's instead. A little wobbly, but he's getting there. His gaze shifts back to the lamp, then casts around to see if there's anyone who might've done... something. A spell? There's nothing here, just some shops, maybe a few Christmas lights (oh, those are pretty).]
[ Okay, that time? Hunter was looking directly at him, at least, and he can see that Casey didn't jump off. Unfortunately he still has no idea what the heck just happened. ]
Casey! Where the heck are you?
[ He turns the staff in a quick circle, searching for Casey as he panics. ]
[The through line is a little easier to follow this time, too; his disappearance is accompanied by a small flash of light, and not too far off, another flash appears just under a string of pretty, multicoloured festive lights, and there's Casey again, visible for but a moment before he drops from where he'd reappeared and is enveloped by a decorative bush he falls into, footie pyjamas airborn and kicking.
Now, Casey does not swear often, but he came from the end of the world and understands such words are sometimes necessary. So if Hunter missed the flash of light, he can follow the shout,]
Well - okay, that flash of light DOES actually tell him a lot, but he's immediately distracted by the crash and the swearing and the wriggling bush. He swoops down and dismounts so he can offer a hand down to him. ]
[Casey hastily grabs hold of Hunter's hands, using him for leverage and support to get out of the bush. He's got twigs in his hair, comically Myth-like. He also keeps clinging once he's upright.]
[Casey ducks his head a bit to let Hunter check for foliage. Definitely not hurt, at worst a few scratches from the brush, barely visible. He's fine, just thoroughly confused.]
A flicker of light? Does that mean something?
[He starts looking around for light sources and possible targets for who might be doing it. It's true that the streets are pretty barebones; it's still early enough and post-holidays, so there's barely a pedestrian about. No one suspicious for sure. So why...?]
[ Hunter hesitates. It's such a WEIRD thing to be true if it is, but it's the only thing he can think of right now? Just, you know, HOW? (Did something change while he wasn't looking?) ]
Maybe. I'm not sure. We could try --
[ He keeps his grip on Casey's hand but points at a lamp post at the end of the street. ]
-- wait, did you see that? Was someone there?
[ There wasn't, but he's hoping to trigger the reaction again while he's holding on. ]
[Nothing happens initially, but with Casey's attention on the light, and the possibility of an culprit, he's more attentive to that new location, eyes narrowing. Maybe they should get closer to it to check if-
-yeah off he goes, his hand vanishing from Hunter's. One flash into another, and now he's standing beneath the other lamp post, absolutely flummoxed.]
[ Well there it is. That time Hunter FELT the tingle of magic as Casey’s hand disappeared and he saw his boyfriend disappear and reappear in front of him. Okay, maybe his control is poor, but the effect is very clear now. Hunter breaks into a grin. ]
[Casey looks over, still confused (but at least they're still close and he's on solid ground, this was a kinder random port), and looks down at his own hands.]
I. What? [His gaze shifts back to Hunter, shaking his head.] I can't teleport, I don't have magic. [Just the borrowed powers of Thirteen, and now Hunter's glyphs and staff.] Did you put a different glyph on the bracelet?
[Though he hadn't touched it any time the teleport activated... but he's still in denial. Surely he cannot teleport.]
Trust me, a teleport glyph wouldn’t fit on a bracelet that size even if it DID work like that. I have to use receiving glyphs if I don’t have my staff.
[ As Casey has likely seen in Hunter’s room. Oh sure, Hunter can still blink without a marching glyph but that requires a staff. Which he demonstrates now by blinking forward to Casey’s spot under the lamp. ]
[Casey watches as he blinks over. Okay, yeah, it's... similar. But there has to be someone around doing this. Right? He doesn't have magic.]
I don't understand... why would I be able to teleport?
[He says like Hunter would have the answer... even as the words leave his lips it feels silly to ask. But Hunter looks so happy, and through the fog of cautious confusion, he's starting to feel it, too. He can... teleport? Really? Him?
He focuses on some random spot up ahead, trying to send himself there. Since it's random, though, it's a little too overshadowed by one of the neighbouring buildings, so nothing's happening.]
[ Yeah sorry Casey, he can’t think of a reason here. Or at least nothing remotely close to the truth? He certainly isn’t going to make the connection to the fae event. His own reward for it is masked entirely by his assumed dependence on his staff. ]
Maybe you’ve picked up magic by being here? Maybe Rue gave it to you somehow.
Oh! Uh. May...be? I can ask them about it. Something about it does feel kind of familiar.
[He doesn't usually have magic, but he's pretty good at identifying the vibe when it's used on him. The tingly aftermath does feel somewhat similar...
He squints towards a different spot, this one with sufficient light to allow him to flash out then into existence again, where he pinwheels his arms a bit and falls backwards, landing on his butt and staying there.]
-Ah! I did... oh. I feel dizzy...
[Did it too many times when he's new to it, oops. Wore himself out. He can't really deny it now, though... he definitely just made that happen himself.]
[Phew... okay. Casey lifts his hand to clutch at Hunter's arm as the feeling starts to pass. Take it slow, then... he just needs to stop accidentally doing it.]
Right. Okay, slow. ...I-I... guess I can teleport...? [It's just starting to sink in for real now, a confused smile crossing his lips.] This is so weird. Why me? Why now?
[The Rue theory is a good one. They haven't had the bond for that long, and he did gain the owlbear form within the month. Maybe this is a side effect somehow.]
[ Hunter slings an arm around Casey to support him a little better. It’s still a short walk to the apartment now that they’ve teleported all over the place and he does not want to have to drag his boyfriend. ]
Is there anything else that could have caused it? Did you touch any weird artifacts or get a new magic outfit?
[ They did just get PJs, albeit the entirely unmagical kind. ]
[Casey holds on to him as they walk, growing more steady, but for once grateful to be walking instead of flying. He doesn't want to end up actually falling off the staff. Sorry, Flapjack.]
Not that I know of. The one who gave me the most magic anything recently is you, but if it's not a glyph, I have no idea. I don't know enough about magic from other worlds to tell... it's definitely not Hamato energy.
[Even if he had the right bloodline - which he does not - he's well aware that the signs of activation are the emblem, glowing markings or eyes... just in case, he tugs the fabric of his shirt down his shoulder briefly to check the scaled mark. Nope, nothing glowing there.]
[Like a mid-90s high school, the scandal of a bare shoulder. Hang in there, buddy, it's only down for a couple of seconds.]
You've seen Leo's portals, right? All the turtles have access to a mystic energy that's tied to the Hamato family. Leo has portals and can turn anything into a sword, Raph can make huge duplicates of himself that can fight independently, Donnie can create weapons and objects out of nothing. They get kinda glowy when they're using it.

Hunter keeps walking slow and steady, mindful of how Casey's doing. If he looks wobbly he'll shift closer. And - uh.
