[In the middle of discussing things with Peter, Casey peers into whatever room Hunter happens to be hanging out, still typing on his relic.]

Hey, did you do anything for Mother's Day?

[ Hunter appears to be working on a particularly tricky round of homework, given that Flapjack is here to supervise from the nearby bowl of popcorn; he blinks and looks up when Casey comes in. ]

Holy pizza in the sky you don't know what Mother's Day is.

[This is now a mild CRISIS]

No, no! Mother's Day! It's an Earth holiday! It was like two weeks ago...

[ Hunter immediately LAUNCHES himself out of bed, popcorn going everywhere. ]

There's a Mother's Day HOLIDAY and we missed it?? It wasn't on Luz's list!

[Poor bed. Might want to change the sheets unless they want a butter-scented bedtime.

Also, Casey sort of... side-eyes the wall. Apparently should have passed the memo, but in defense to him it was a very frenzied day.]

Well. I didn't miss it. ...What list?

[pyrighteous]

[ Well. Flapjack is staying behind to help with cleanup (with his mouth) but even he can't eat ALL the popcorn. Hunter will have to fix it later. ]

The list of important human holidays!! It's very extensive!

[ He says, pulling up this list for Casey to see. ]

Why do you think I bought us doughnuts yesterday??

[Casey peers at the list, eyes widening the further down he gets.]

I've... never heard of any of these. [The apocalypse really did take everything, huh.] ...Th-that's not important right now, though! But show it to me again later. You gotta do something for Mom!

[pyrighteous]

[ Oh. Oh no. Now it suddenly sinks in. ]

-- they must think I'm the worst! I - muck, what do I do? How do I fix it? What did YOU do for them?

[apuckalypse]

They wouldn't think you're the worst. That's not possible.

[He gives Hunter a smile and a squeeze to the shoulder. Deep breaths, BF, and he'll transition to a cozy side hug if permitted.]

I brought them a cake from their favourite bakery, and we hung out for a while. It doesn't have to be complicated. How about we make a card? And maybe we can go shopping and find something they'd like.

[ Yeah Hunter is IMMEDIATELY transitioning to cling. ]

Please? I - yeah, I'd really like that.

Of course. [Casey thinks a moment.] Mom loves crafts, even if they're bad. You've seen the terrible leaf art I did.

[Calling it art is still too generous in his mind, but in this moment Rue's opinion is all that matters.]

We've got enough supplies between the two of us, we can make a decent card. How about we print out a new photo of us for it? Mom likes those, too.

[pyrighteous]

[ Hunter brightens at that. ]

And - then I can decorate around it?

[apuckalypse]

Yeah, exactly! What do you think you'd want to decorate it with?

[There's loads of options, considering how much project material they've collected over the last half year or so.]

[pyrighteous]

Thats ... a good question? Maybe I can sew something with my birthday present?

[apuckalypse]

[Casey's brows lift at once, and he brightens.]

That's an amazing idea! I've never seen a cloth card before, what if we gave the picture a sewn frame?

[pyrighteous]

-- Yeah! I could easily do that. It's just fancy rectangles!

[apuckalypse]

Yeah! [All he knows about the sewing machine is what he read in the manual in case Hunter needed tech support for it, but that sounds like basic sewing to him, so...!] Oh, how about patches? I could pick out a few good ones while you sew, make the fabric extra-fancy.

[pyrighteous]

Even better. Yeah. I think - this might work out okay.

[ He's SO RELIEVED. ]

It'll be fine! We just have to apologize and make up for it. Peter suggested we do a make-up party, since it was originally supposed to be right when he came back.

[It was a chaotic weekend, really not a great environment for a proper celebration. Hopefully no disasters come their way this time.]

Can we do that? How do we do that? I don't know anything about parties!

[apuckalypse]

We can do it! [He's determined! They're gonna do it, for Rue.] We've seen a bunch of parties, now. We just have to do something similar, except base it around what we know of Rue. And if it's not perfect, they'll understand. They won't get mad.

[They don't have to be perfect for Rue- they all should know that by now. The effort they put into it, and the attention they'll give to Rue, that counts for a lot. They just need to try their best!]

Right. Right. We can just do basic party things. Which are -

[ UH. He has to think actually. ]

Decorations, food, and people?

[apuckalypse]

Yeah, exactly! People are easy, we just need to bring everyone Rue's a mom for or would come and appreciate them. So the whole family. Food should be stuff Rue likes and can eat easily.

[They don't always eat in front of people, even family, but finger foods are easy so they're a perfect place to focus on.]

For decor... well, I didn't really find traditional Mother's Day stuff when I looked into it. So I was thinking we could do the usual balloons and confetti like Mom does, maybe some cut-out pictures to hang... and what about if we drew up some glyphs, to do something fun? Mom always makes their parties magical.

[ Hunter gets up to pace a little - more thoughtful than actually agitated. ]

I could do something with glyphs! Definitely sparkles, or little starbursts, or things like that. And the plant glyphs could add lots of flowers!
