[ Ah, now THAT part he likes the best. He really tilts his head against the side of the blade now to soothe the rest of the little rough spots away. Soooo nice. ]

Well - okay, I can definitely do that. But maybe there's a way to clean scales too.

[Hunter's reaction has Casey wondering if sandpaper would be nice or unpleasant... maybe he'll try that out next time. Either way, he'll take his time pampering those tips until they're perfect.]

Clean scales... maybe. I just scrub what I can reach like normal in the shower. I don't mind if you want to try, though.

[ Probably a gentle grit would be real nice. Like scratching an itch. ]

All right. Then - uh - next time you uh -

[ Wait, he's stumbling over the thought of Casey in the bath or something. ]

[Casey pauses at that, opening and shutting his mouth in quick succession, momentarily caught up in the same dilemma. Can't exactly invite Hunter in to scrub his back. (Or, well. He could. Again, Casey doesn't have any particular hang-ups about communal showers post-apocalypse. But that feels like a bit much, especially for just a scale scrubbing. He's never shared a shower with a boyfriend before!)]

You. Um. You can try on my shoulder scales? I'd just have to roll up my sleeve.

[Don't need a bath for that. Or even shirt removal.]

[ It's a BIT of an escalation. So Hunter is relieved at this offering instead. ]

-- Oh yeah! That'll be much easier.

R-right.

[Just a bit. Even if technically he'd done it for Hunter before, it's a bit different when he only looked to clean off the fae bark. It was an emergency! Very situational.

He clears his throat, cheeks pink anyway, and goes back to smoothing out the second horn.]

I think they're pretty even, now... how do they feel?

[ Hunter reaches up to delicately touch the tips of his horns with his fingers. ]

A lot better. They were kind of - um - splintery before?

Yeah, they were getting real sharp! They shouldn't be able to tear any shirts for a while, now. At least not so easily.

[He sets aside the clippers and the last of the wood chips, switching to the brush to clean up and smooth down Hunter's hair next. Time for that full spa treatment.]

[ Hair brushing is SO NICE. Hunter makes a soft, pleased noise as he leans back into it. ]

I mean I manage it anyway but. Yeah. Sometimes I end up tearing the horn if it catches too badly, and that really hurts.

[It really is fun to watch Hunter practically melt into it.]

Oh man... [Sympathy wince, as he weaves the brush very carefully around the horns so he doesn't tear any of those cute little flowers.] Let me know whenever you need a trim, then. It would be pretty bad if that caused a split.

[He doesn't know how much damage it could grow back from, but he'd really rather not find out.]

Y. Yeah. I mean it's never been too bad? But it's like when you get those little splinters around your nails and they catch on things.

[ Grimwalker hangnails. ]

[Sounds terrible, would not recommend. Nails are fine, but they must grow and heal so much faster than this.]

We definitely don't want that.

[He finishes at the top (they really are such lovely flowers) and starts working lower, towards the growing locks beneath.]

Do you feel any better about your horns these days?

[ Definitely getting longer here; a couple of flowers come off in Casey's fingers, but they seem like they would have come off anyway, all things considered. They need a trim too. ]

A lot better. Yeah. They feel healthier I think?

[Casey sets the shedded flowers aside, once he carefully checks to make sure it wasn't his error. He can press them later, that sounds kind of nice.]

They look way healthier. Growing fresh flowers, too. [he pauses the brush for a moment, gently trailing his fingers over the twisting wood patterns.] You know... I really like them, too.

[As much as muscles? Maybe more than muscles? Hard to say.]

[ They're quite pretty. White with the faintest hint of blue. ]

R. Really?

[ His ears go pink; those horns of his are a bit sensitive to touch. ]

Really! I think they're pretty. And it's cool that they grow with you, that they're changing... they kinda represent you in a sense.

[He keeps his touch delicate, and doesn't linger too long, but he can't help enjoying that smooth, wooden texture. He never had trees before this place. Now he loves them! And his boyfriend is kind of a tree! It's just. Neat.]

... Oh. Huh. I didn't think about that.

[ He tilts his head just a bit, horns moving too. ]

I've thought about maybe putting jewelry on it. Like a ring, or a chain.

[Casey leans back to avoid getting bonked, though he appreciates the better angle.]

Ohh, that sounds cool! You should go for it. How about a ring with dangly chains attached?

[Two for one! -Oh shit he should have saved that for a gift idea. Well now he has to buy it immediately before Hunter can find one. Or maybe they can go shopping together and he'll buy what Hunter picks? (Why are gifts still so hard!?)]

... That sounds nice. Yeah. I'd definitely try wearing it.

[ Hunter isn't even thinking of gifts - he's wondering if he can make it with scrap metal. ]

[Time to do both!

Casey finishes his self-indulgent horn-poking and goes back to the hair.]

See, that's one thing you can do that I can't. Even your ears have more space for jewelry!

... Oh. I - uh, never thought of it that way.

[ He touches his own ear self-consciously. ]

Well, sure. Most people don't think about the size of their own ears, it's normal for them.

[He pokes one from behind. They're not huge but they're so much longer than his own. It's kinda fascinating.]

[ His ear flicks at the touch, similar to how a cat's ear would. ]

W-well - right. My ears are about average for the Boiling Isles.

[Cue Casey internally melting because he did not know they did that.]

Do you like jewelry? I don't think I've seen you wear any. But the one you made was so nice!

[His little light glyph bracelet that he literally is always wearing-]

... I guess I never really thought about it. Belos didn't like it.

[ His ear gives another little flick. ]
