[ He freezes at that. ]

You're protesting a lot, you know. It's not a bad thing to be who you are.

Well I'm NOT Hunter! Not any more!

What do you mean, not any more? What changed?

[pyrighteous]

[ He grips his staff tightly. ]

I made a deal with Belos.

That I'd stay here and make sure this level stays safe. And he would protect Phoenix for me.

Hunter - he's using you. You realize that, right?

[pyrighteous]

[ He bows his head a little. ]

What else can I do?

They care about you, Hunter. Your team, and the rest of your friends. They want you around, not him.

[pyrighteous]

They shouldn't. Something - something broke when all this happened. I'm missing pieces.

[ He slowly removes his mask, showing a face that's fragmented? And indeed there are pieces missing. ]

[there's a moment of surprise before he just looks concerned, shaking his head.]

Then I'll help you find them. It's going to be okay.

[pyrighteous]

I don't know where they are.

[ Though he does look towards the paintings. ]

We can look. We can fix this, and then - we can figure out what to do about him.

[ The guard nods slowly after a moment. ]

He promised me he'd protect Phoenix. If I let him do this. He promised to forgive me.

...Did he tell you how he was going to do that? Hunter, there was a painting of him at the center of the prison, like he was in charge.

In the hallway I first came in. There were a bunch of paintings with him looking really heroic and in control.

[pyrighteous]

Oh! Well yes, that's what the Emperor's mind looks like.

[heartlands]

Yeah, but - there was at least one specifically from the prison.

How do you know what his mind looks like? Wait, maybe that's not important right now. So - we just have to go into these paintings to find what's missing, right?

[pyrighteous]

I - maybe? That's where the pieces ought to be. But I'm fine being right here!
