[ Here's a kid right at about Hunter's height, speaking with Hunter's voice, and ... okay not wielding Hunter's staff? Instead, it's topped with something artificial: a red crystal and a white-gold wing.

He opens his mouth to say something, then spies the boy that Adrien brought with him. ]

Ew! Why did you bring one of THOSE things with you? Gross! At least put some clothes on him.

[ He all but flings his nice white cloak at Adrien. ]

[eudaimoniac]

[wrapping the boy in the cloak, yeah. he sits him down in a corner for now.]

Hunter, do you know what's going on here?

[pyrighteous]

[ The boy is more than happy to just cuddle here in the corner, still dripping mud dimly. At least the cloak is warm and dry.

Meanwhile, the guard stiffens. This is clearly someone who is trying not to react to his own name and failing. ]

I'm - I'm not Hunter! I'm the Golden Guard! The Emperor's right hand! And I'm here to make sure that all of this stays safe until the Emperor can safely destroy it!

[eudaimoniac]

You sound a lot like Hunter to me, my dear. May I see your face?

[pyrighteous]

[ He shies away from Adrien. ]

N. No! It's - not important. There's nothing under here.

[eudaimoniac]

This is your head, isn't it? Not Belos's. He's altering you.

[pyrighteous]

[ He grips his staff hard. Hesitates? Shakes his head, but it seems terribly uncertain. ]

He's - he's doing what's best for me. For both of us. He said ...

[ his voice falters a bit. ]

He said he'd forgive me. And take me back. If I do this for him.

I don't think that's true. People here care about you, Hunter, not him. Your life is your own.

And I don't think he's going to forgive you.

[pyrighteous]

He is, though! He promised! H-he needs me in here to look after everything!

[ The guard tilts his head at Adrien. ]

And fight intruders if I have to.

[pyrighteous]

[ The Guard looks over at the shivering guard in the corner. Back at Adrien. ]

I don't believe you. I killed you. Why would you help me?

[ He seems somewhat disconnected from the Hunter that Adrien last talked to in reality. Maybe some of these paintings will help? ]

[eudaimoniac]

Because I forgave you.

[he goes to the starry night painting]

Tell me about this one.

[pyrighteous]

[ He reels a bit, trying to remember that. Shakes his head a bit. ]

I - um - that's my favorite one. A little rebellious, sure, but. I was still studying magic!

[ The canvas shimmers a bit; Adrien could walk through it. ]

Do you want to come with me to see?

[pyrighteous]

I guess I should keep an eye on you. Just in case you try something stupid. Like rescuing another COPY.

[ He glares at the boy in the corner. ]

[he addresses the copy]

Will you be all right if you stay here?

[pyrighteous]

[ The copy nods at that. Opens his mouth? Whoops, someone didn't develop proper vocal chords.

The guard makes a disgusted noise. ]

Titan, I'm having an existential crisis just looking at him.

[eudaimoniac]

He's just a child.

[sounding . . . beaten down. all right. let's go see that starry night, hunter]

[ The guard follows Adrien somewhere else. ]
