How do witches normally cast their magic? Witch Town had...quite the selection of rituals to their casting.

I imagine Flapjack might be closer to my experience of mysticism.

Huh. Stones do like to store mystic energy in them. [There is a pause at that though.] Did you want to try making another artificial staff?

Uh - usually by just drawing a circle, and kind of manifesting it from there? Or using the palisman as a focus. That’s what Flapjack does for me.

[ Anyway, he pinks a bit at that reassurance. He knows he’s not either of those things, and yet… ]

Hmm. I can't make a magic rock, but my bo staff is a mystic focus. [He gestures with it vaguely.] It's easier to use my mystic powers using it. When I have the right mindset, I can make another one and we can do experiments with the other.

Oh, that part's easy. Witches have a bile sack next to their heart, which generates the magic they need. Probably an evolution caused by thousands of years of living on the Boiling Isles.

[ Hunter brightens at that, leaning over to consider that bo. ]

It doesn't have to actually BE a magic rock. Mine was a plain red quartz? And I know Emperor Belos had earlier staffs that just used glass. I've already got a couple picked out from the fake magic ruin.

A bile sack? So they have an obvious fuel source. That's.... surprisingly sensible.

[The Bo looks like normal wood...save where the screen is connected to it, where the wood has also turned transparent and purple like the construct.]

Really? How does that work? [Mystic rocks are a thing, but he's scanned new age shops and their crystals were normal.]

It would be one of the better uses for the staff though. I can make them with a dedicated effort, but if it gets too broken down, it just dissipates into energy again. So uses where it retains it's form are best.

Yeah. I ... don't, so. No innate magic for me.

[ Anyway, he gestures vaguely. ]

The crystal isn't magical. Just like a magnifying glass doesn't emit light. It just focuses the magic - which the glyphs provide. Anyone can use those. I bet if we put glyphs and a crystal on your staff, you could get a wider variety of mystic stuff happening.

At least of that sort. Using a magical conduit can sometimes wake some ability. It may be worth exploring other schools if you're interested.

Now that is a thought. Magic acting like light....that would be worth exploring.

But yes, I think modifying it like your artificial staff could be very interesting. Something to try in a few days since it's better if I have a normal one for defensive purposes.

You do make it very easy to go on tangents. [Affectionate actually. He's used to being tuned out like ninety percent of the time.]

We just need to establish what we can each be an authority on and swear fealty to that. That should count.

Mostly I would give Raph 32 hours at most before he adopts you when you meet.

Oh no, Raph absolutely would, the only thing that is in question is timing.

You have a cute red bird, I like you, you like the idea of law enforcement. [In desperate need of a good family.] It is literally a matter of exposure before he does it. His big brother instincts are strong and universal.
