[ That pit STINGS. It's basically acid for any organic matter that isn't actively being created.

[ Hunter lets out a wet cough and pulls himself up a little? He's so weak, though; Horse has to do most of the work.

Meanwhile, Belos swoops in behind her. ]

Return him to the pit this instant. He isn't done.

I don't even know what that means!

[Turns to Hunter]

Are you all right? Can you run?

[pyrighteous]

[ Well. The meaning makes itself clear pretty quickly. Hunter's out of the pit, but his legs are wrong. They look like they're made of twisted vines? Wood? And they look backwards, even if they could hold his weight.

Yeah he's screaming again, sorry. ]

[Trying to think fast and mentally scroll through all the paintings she's seen in hopes of remembering one that might be able to help. Hmm, maybe the doorway. If it's magical, it might have something...]

Okay, hang on, we're going to get out of here. Find a way to help you that doesn't involve whatever this jerk is up to.

This "jerk" was finishing him. Put him back if you want him to walk.

[Hates Belos but also doesn't want Hunter to suffer just because she thinks she knows what's right... so she will reluctantly... do that]

[ Hunter whimpers a bit but settles back in, at least up to his waist.

Adjustments. Unfortunate that it's happening after he's conscious, but not to worry. I'll erase the memories later.

You'll do no such thing! You don't get to decide what he remembers and what he doesn't.

Of course not. But you did it. You can't just make it go away since it's part of who he is now.

I find it to be a more merciful option to simply remove them. Less troublesome, as well; you want to start clean.

Life's not about starting clean. It's about growing from your experiences.

And the experience of dying over and over? Failing over and over? Would you curse him with that?

[ He is! Once he's back in, he falls into a dazed sort of state. ]

Maybe that's true. But you still don't get to treat him like he's just a creation!

[Hoping the extra cooking is helping because she's having her fill of this...]

Why not? That's what he is. No more a person than a particularly complex puppet.

[ Seems to be! his legs are slowly reforming. ]

He has feelings! And hopes! And wants! And he has these crazy ideas that I never understand but they're still his! And he's always trying to be better. Which makes him more of a person than YOU!
