[ He holds it out to her while the Guard keeps talking. ]

We - we did make a deal. I kept getting dragged under, and ... he said he'd protect Phoenix for me if I just let go. That he'd love me again if I did this for him.

[Keeps tending to the wound, listening sombrely]

He’s a liar. And love isn’t supposed to be conditional. Someone like that isn’t capable of giving you what you really want, Hunter.

I know that. I know it. So why do I keep going back to him?

Because you spent your entire life loving him, and that’s not easy to let go of. Even when you know someone has betrayed you, it’s normal to long for the days you could happily believe the lies. To wish they could really be like they said they were if you just did enough for them. But he never will.

[Finishes bandaging themself up and gestures for both of him to move closer]

Come here.

[pyrighteous]

[ They both approach, the guard kneeling next to her. ]

I always think that maybe there's a way. Something I can do better.

[Pulls both of them into a hug]

Wanting to have faith in someone you loved for so long is only natural. Nobody can judge you for that. But the person you believed in was never real, and you’re better off without him.

There are people in your life who love you and who will stand by you, no matter how low you feel. You have a team who will support you. Friends who care for you. Believe in them instead. You deserve so much more.

[pyrighteous]

[ They both hug her tightly, one on each arm. The guard keeps talking: ]

They’re good people, but you know them better than I do. Think about it, do they make you happy? Are they happy being with you?

[ He nods, slowly. The cracks in his face slowly seal over to something more whole. ]

[oh! They ruffle his hair and slowly stand up, bracing a hand on their side]

[ He looks down at them uncertainly. ]

Are you sure you can get up?

[they know full well they should stay resting but the sooner they finish up here the sooner they can go get proper medical attention]

Oh, it hurts like a bitch, but if we walk slow I should be fine. I’ll let you know if I need to rest.

[ The clones exchange looks. ]

We can take you somewhere safe to rest, if you want.
